Mosjøen
Join us to visit Northern Norway's oldest hotel, explore the alleyways of Sjøgato, and climb 3,000 steps to Øyfjellet, as well as take a breathtaking flight over Vefsna that feels exhilarating. Right below Øyfjellet, where the rivers Vefsna and Skjerva meet and flow into Vefsnfjorden, lies the colorful town of Mosjøen, Helgeland's oldest town.
On a quiet peninsula between the rivers Vefsna and Skjerva lies Helgeland's oldest town. Already in 1875, Mosjøen was granted port rights by King Oscar II. The old, charming wooden houses are closely packed together and invite you on a visual journey through time.
Mosjøen's history, dating back to the time when British salmon lords visited the town, fished for salmon in the rivers, and purchased timber to take back to England, is part of the town's heritage and has made Mosjøen well-known both nationally and internationally.
With a rich music and cultural environment, as a café town, and with the beautiful 19th-century district of Sjøgata, Mosjøen is a popular place to visit. Experiences such as the Helgeland staircase, via ferrata, a zip line in the city center, and Øyfjellgrotta are all great hiking areas close to town.
By the riverbank in the center of Mosjøen, you will also find Northern Norway's oldest hotel, Fru Haugans Hotell, which features a popular hotel garden.
